Eyemouth

Eyemouth is a small fishing town in the East Berwickshire region of the Scottish Borders, just 2 miles east of the main A1 road, making it central for accessing a multitude of notable attractions in the Borders and close enough to Edinburgh to make an excellent base if you should want to go further afield. Although there is so much to do in the immediate vicinity you may simply not have the time! The area has been a celebrated artists paradise for many years, which illustrates the outstanding beauty of the area.

Eyemouth retains its working harbour and modern fishing fleet which affords a picturesque sight when leaving for the fishing grounds, or as part of the pageant of the annual Herring Queen Festival, which starts with a weekend of harbour side activities and continues throughout the week with events such as the fancy dress parade and a treasure hunt.

Visit the Eyemouth museum with its magnificent tapestry depicting “Black Friday” fishing disaster of 1881 when a storm blew up of such ferocity that it claimed the lives of 129 local fisherman.

The area is packed with things to do in many spheres. See below for information on local attractions as well as to the right for links to local related websites.
